Hyde Park Lobby and Spa, London

At The Lancasters, Hyde Park, Intarya were tasked with creating
a show-stopping Entrance Lobby and an elegant Pool & Spa area.
The brief was to instill a sense of the building’s heritage and elegance, whilst bringing the best of modern design.

In the Entrance Lobby, timber panelling was applied to the walls, finished in Pewter Grey stain and combined with grey polished plaster. The scheme is an homage to a number of design styles, representing the renovation and revival of this landmark building. On the Italian stone and timber inlay floors are pieces influenced by the William and Mary period, mingled with bespoke hand-painted and embroidered Chinoiserie and a mixture of unexpected contemporary materials and finishes. The highlight is the exquisite Murano glass chandelier, a bespoke piece inspired
by an antique.

The polished plaster finish journeys down from the Lobby into the
Spa Area where modern lines and finishes triumph over ornate period detailing. A sensual, grown-up space, the scheme’s strength is in its restraint, with a palette that amplifies the space. Foliage trail in mirror mosaic glimmers from the pool area’s polished plaster walls. The surrounding furniture and lighting bring a structural element with clean, crisp lines. In the Spa Lounge, sculptural form and texture are in abundance: the cast bronze floor lamps, coffee tables in a cracked metal finish and the ultra-contemporary chandelier create an eclectic, urbane environment.
